Since when has having a Japanese partner been vital to the existence of a Western imageboard? How many westerners read 2ch every day? If you go out of your way to attract Japanese users and allow them to post on your board, then you're going to find it polluted with off-topic moon language (and if the Koreans can access/post there, it will just be a schoolyard brawl).

I think 8chan is hell-bent on growth, but why? Haven't we seen this before with uh... Hmm. Can't remember any specific examples because they were short-lived and I never looked at them much.
