I got into an argument with my sister today. She said that Facebook should replace its books section with a section for magazine/newspapers, and the reason why it didn't have a section for them already is the primary reason why they're failing in the modern era. I argued that books were more indicative of a person's personality and saying what newspaper you read is really only an indication of where you live or what your political stance is, and both areas already have fields available, as well as a miscellaneous likes section. In addition, newspapers are dying out because news is freely available to read online. Then I raised the point that the people who can only express their personalities through what they enjoy are shallow people, and if you can only describe yourself as a "fan of 17 magazine" you're probably just another idiotic consumerist whore. She said "Well, I read the Rolling Stones. That means that I'm a very unique and expressive person. It's completely different." I said that she was an idiot if she actually believed that and she broke down into tears.
