There is porn of it, no exceptions.

When this was written, it seemed obvious to everyone what it meant. Unfortunately, some people don’t get it. Let’s clarify things a bit:

Rule 34 is drawn porn of a character from popular culture.

So let’s go through the flowchart of what qualifies and what doesn’t:

1. It is drawn.

It may be realistically drawn, but chances are it’s going to be POORLY drawn and that’s just fine. Photoshops of real people are called “fakes.” The more you fucking know!

2. It is porn

You should at least be seeing more of this character than is typical. Otherwise, I think this is the one part you'll understand without further explanation!%$!

3. It is a character

It is not an actress, model, politician, person, generic animal, or girl you saw on the bus. It is a character from a movie, TV show, comic strip, cartoon, book, whatever. But it is not the actress portraying that character. Oh, it’s going to “be” that person if it’s a live action series, but it must in some way portray that character. It may be that the character’s costume is on the floor at his/her feet, but at least we know who/what it’s supposed to be.

4. It is from popular culture.

It should be easily identifiable. Again, it’s not just some girl. Those are called “nudes.” It’s from something a lot of people have seen and it isn't already porn. It is not from some poorly-drawn furry web comic that no one reads and it’s not some girl that lives in your building. If you think she’s a porn actress, please by all means, feel free to ask for nudes, but not rule 34.

Here be no fucking dragons (unless they're famous dragons)

I have to say this shit because every once in awhile someone fucks up a perfectly good rule 34 thread with dragons fucking cars (or DFC for the cool kids who talk about this so often they need an abbreviation for it and don't believe the lies about what DFC means, I assure you, as one of the top 2,000 Internet Experts, it means Dragons Fucking Cars). Going through the tests mentioned above, we get through two just fine. However, the dragons in these drawings are not known characters and neither are the cars. If it’s puff the magic dragon fucking Herbie the love bug, then YES, it is in fact rule 34. Otherwise, it’s just a dragon fucking a car.
