So Wikipedia has this to say about Louis Pasteur:
He is remembered for his remarkable breakthroughs in the causes and prevention of diseases, and his discoveries have saved many lives ever since.
many
many
The fucking balls on that understatement. It's like saying France is two inches wide.
“many.” FFS.
This isn't like some guy that discovered a treatment for a rare 1 in 1,200,000 cancer that saved “many” lives, no he saved YOUR life, your parents' lives, and your grandparents' lives. Before Pasteur came along, children just died like flies and those children that lived as a result of this man's work are your ancestors. He may as well have personally seen you through your whole life to read this lunatic talking about him at this very moment. I'd contend that Louis Pasteur is easily the most important person to ever live. You should have a portrait of him in your house. Every room ought to have one. He should watch you sleep at night.
