I'm new here.
pretty dead. thanks for asking!
More like it's dying but just refuses to kick the bucket. How much longer do you plan on hanging to life, w2ch?!
w2ch is that grandparent you have that you're expecting to die soon, but they never actually do. You've accepted their fate and are pretty sad to see them go, but you're not going to cry.
You're not going to cry, but they won't die.
So, when the day finally comes that they die, you weren't expecting it. Their death takes a toll on you since it was such a blind-side hit. You end up crying and telling stories about your grandparent to your friends, about how they were awesome.
But when you really think about it, they weren't all that awesome.
I kind of like this board. Along with 4-ch. It's still pretty dead...
NO U R DED
I must be the only one who checks this board 3-4 times a day.

Yeah, probably.
Also,
Dear Yahoo: I'll sell you this whole thing, complete with Archduke and all his future earnings from tell-all prison memoirs, for ONLY $280,000. Just send cash in FedEx packs kthx. ARCHDUKE AS IS - ALL SALES FINAL - NO REFUNDS.
P.S. Don't listen to these fucks, this place is totally alive. Despite what I just said. Just listen to whatever you listened to when you decided to buy tumblr!
Could be deader

You know, I have a dream of a BBS, just like 2ch, with just as many boards, and just as many frequent users. It would be paradise. But that will never happen :(

So, if we look at tumblr and what it is, it's basically the itchy and unholy polyamorous marriage of everything: image board, twitter, and livejournal. I think I'm going to throw up a little... I'm not sure you can compete with the blob. It consumes all.
So, assuming that tumblr hasn't already swallowed the concept whole along with all others, how do you make 2ch for the west? Do you stress anonymity? 4chan does that already. No one uses its text boards though, because they're garbage (and it was w2ch users that suggested them in the first place and for that, I AM SO SORRY). They're too plain, too hidden, and just too clunky and old. It's time to rethink the concept....
I'm not sure what to say other than I think it may be time to take a deep breath and let go of what we believe in...
Maybe it shouldn't be so plain. Maybe it shouldn't be so organized. What it needs to thrive in the West is to be less Japanese...

No one said it had to be original content...

I hate to say this, but maybe it needs to be a damn mess. Like tumblr... Maybe we allow users to stand out with an increased number of posting options and just see what happens. Except we allow this to happen all at once and form a huge ongoing conversation. Let there be light and color.....
It would be like Times Square and Shinjuku all in one enormous overwhelming experience. Nothing will be said, but do we really have anything to say to one another anymore?

I feel like the draw of 4chan is anonymity and simplicity. There's no liking, tagging, or anything. The idea of the text board isn't dead yet.
>>20
And you know that's exactly what I want. A never ending stream of words spoken by Anonymius users in a BBS format. Like Shinkukus and NYCs resident just all talking...

I think that anonymity and simplicity is a strong factor. But I think the biggest draw is that 4chan simply has a lot of traffic. The community is big enough that there are smaller, more niche communities to choose and join.
And because it's anonymous, you don't have to worry about not fitting in as much.
Bang!
It's p. dead
