I felt motivated by boredom and my friend begging me to do so, to try and resurrect world2ch, it's very incomplete and only 3 boards work. I'm trying to find a way of getting w2ch.net away from the cybersquatters that control it (you can give me advice on that if you want), I tried to make it as true to the original as possible.
http://world2ch.2011chan.co.cc
Thanks web.archive.org for providing the original webpages.
Any feedback would be nice thanks.
If you want world2ch.net, the friendly folks there would like $3,000 for it. I have no idea why. The more people ask about it or visit their crap squatter site, the more they're going to think it's worth something, so don't bother. At some point their brilliant business model (Step 1: ask $3,000 for every domain we own. Step 2: sell exactly 0 domains. Step 3: ??? Step 4: Implode in financial ruin.) should drive them out of business. It may take a few years or it might take forever...
As for a good home, I mean, there is always this domain. Or something clever like world2ch.com.
I appreciate your effort and hope this goes somewhere!
What kind of rules are you enforcing on your imageboard?
>>7
Basically: Do what you want as long as it is legal.
Also The request board is back, ready for your suggestions!
swiss domain world2.ch is unreg'd
>>9
I like it!
Make ALL the boards!
To be entirely honest, I don't think the point is to have all the boards. So many boards were part of the problem. Why did it ever have a "gamble" board, for instance?
Adding back in the weird quirks/mistranslations might be a nice gimmick, but otherwise it's time to move on. Make boards that people will actually use.
>>17
IDEA: Remake the Delete request board, all the rest will link to the Wayback Machine.
There, done!
K
OK. Question: Aside from carefully studying the link each time, how will people be able to tell which boards are active and which are just links to the past?
>>21
I'll label them
>Live Coverage (inactive)
>>22
I like this a lot because it also lets people have a constant reminder of w2ch's (hilarious) mistakes.
>>23
I wasn't around in the days of the original world2ch, but RIR6 didn't seem like the most competent admin around. He reminds me of myself when I started managing forums and whatnot.
>>24
For the full RIR6 experience, run every request put to you through google translate four or five times and then act accordingly!
>>25
Again, sounds like me when I started maintaining websites.
>>27
I honestly don't know. What do you suggest?
>>17
Oh and yes, the horrible translations are among the more "remembered" parts of the site, although I should move on and make some boards that are worth people's time.
>>32
Exactly what I was thinking. What's the point in putting everything like it was before?
>>33
This brings us back to 0037's point, so many boards and so little users was part of the problem, I'm adding the deletion requests but after that I'm done (for now).
>>34
And also the grammar. There's no reason to have Engrish on the site.
>>35
Actually the only reason I left it was so it could keep the w2ch feel.
That's why I went as far as to copy the board guidelines from the original.
>>37
The idea is to be as close to w2ch 1.0 without being it 100% w2ch 1.0
>>39
It's very hard to get a domain back from cybersquatters, so w2ch.net is out of the question. But yes, world2ch.com or world2.ch, depends on which I like more.
wat
>>44
Age all you want, you will never break my sageru spirit!
>>47
I'm making that into a banner for w2ch 2.0 (this is w2ch 1.5).
This would probably be a lot more successful if you just bought the domain and used it for this site. A niche site with more than one or two boards looks pathetic to most.
>>49
Actually I now have an ETA for the move to world2ch.com.
Should be like next month.
Oh, by the way, any good domain registrars.
Keep in mind I'm from Britain, so the imgboards have more limit to freedom than the textboards.
>>51
Why not world2.ch? Its a lot more... current.
>>54
I'd use .co.ck for other things.
>>51 I've only ever used namecheap, but I have never had any problems with them. Plus they are against Americas censorship laws.
UPDATE: I'm working on a news page for you guys, that way I don't need to post in Lounge to share an update.
>>63
Stop doing these things. There are only 3 people at best looking at your shit. Buy world2.ch, give it to 0037, and enjoy one site that gets more than one post a week. Anything more will result in failure.
>>64
Do you REALLY think THIS website gets more than three people looking at it? Do you really think most chans get more than three people looking? Or textboards.
Fuck no, your criticisms can be applied to about every other related website.
>>64
Not him but it's his server. Also, we already have world2ch.org, 0037 is the admin and we barely get posts, what's your point?
the arrogance aristocrat
>>71
I'm a woman and I disagree with your point of view.
>>73
Sexism! Patriarchy! Men should die!
>>74
NO
Just a quick update: Forced anon disabled, IDs are back.
>>78
Don't be so rude, Mr.Bradeli. Your loutish behavior is unbecoming of w2ch.
>>78
Yeah, well that's like, your opinion, man.
you're not getting any attention from me, faggot!
>>81
Fuck you, I post without my trip on /g/.
As you can tell by the fact I haven't updated at all, I'm done with this.
So, yeah...
Yes, I'm bumping this, idgaf.
Something I noticed, is that someone bought world2ch.com and redirected it to world2ch.2011chan.co.cc.
Whoever did that, I appreciate it, but it's dead bro.
Which one of you registered world2ch.com? Oh shit, was it me?
it was me
i am black!
>>87
It wasn't me, but I probably would've eventually.
Looks like it was somebody named "Whois Guard".
The names parents give their kids these days... Sheesh!
>>90
Oh, Bradeli, I sent a friend this thread, he said you're a piece of shit for being such a pessimist.
He's too much of an optimist.
>>92
I've always considered myself an optimist. Strange.
