> Avery Morrow’s research on the basis of Asian folk traditions has been published in several academic journals. His interest in parahistory brought him to Japan, where for three years he researched various documents, taught English, visited sacred sites, and worked as a translator and assistant to renowned Shintoist Shin’ichi Nakaya.
> An excellent book. Besides all the information conveyed, much of it new to me (a gaijin) as well as my wife (nihonjin), it wonderfully explains the very healthy and rational attitude required to properly digest the implications inherent in esoteric and "parahistorical" traditions.
> Back to this book. Avery is an interesting fellow. He has the mental depth to tackle this material and in so doing does not sound like a crank. If you are into lost histories, and have an attraction to Japan or LeMuria, then this is a better than expected book to read.

Apparently, he changed his gender, had a lot of surgery, hooked up with some scumbag, and is now deep into drugs. Given the content of his book, the drugs thing doesn't seem all that unlikely. But seriously, I thought he'd be into hard hallucinogens, like ritually stewing cactus, snorting dried tree frog skin, that sort of thing.

ALSO, THERE'S A SHII THREAD.
