The bricks are annoying, as are the quote backlinks and the position of the new thread form. Having said that, it is the natural successor to progrider so has to be used. Hopefully incessant complaining can get these things to change eventually. THere is simply no other option right now.
4ct is and always has been unacceptable due to hating redcream and leaning towards a posting-style that even 4Can's /r9k/ would reject as too whiny. Tinychan is even worse, which isn't surprising because it was started by butthurt pedos who even kimmo alm had to ban due to their poor grammar and namefaggotry.

goatfinger is only appropriate for hardened /prog/riders. people are used to digging through assembly langauge soups for hours. people who have created macros system producing macros in their own lisp dialects. For old school hackers that rode the first SICP wave way back before even /jp/ appropriate the meme. It's not for everybody and the bricks reflect that fact.
