Today i read the archived GOLGOLMOIIS ALL KILLER thread.
I'm prone to wasting time on pointless things so decided to see how much of w2ch was saved by the Internet Archive, expecting it all to be gone. On /news/ the index and thread-list were saved, so i opened them.
Well now there's a list of 185 threads sitting on the screen, so logically there was one thing to do - open every single thread in a new tab. this didn't seem likely to work.
It did. at least 90% of the listed threads up to Sept 29 2003 worked. unfortunately, the 2004 threads (two more threads since Sep 2003) weren't also saved, and that's the last archive of world2ch.net
Other boards and things are also saved, i'm not sure to what extent yet. [a random sample of /anime/, /excuse/ and /entrance/ indicates similar levels of functionality.]
It's fascinating to actually see, i'd always believed it to be one of those "lost forever" kind of things with just a few traces left, but this appears to be pretty substantial.
Can't see the OP but the 2nd reply makes up for it.
